It is with immense pride and a profound sense of purpose that I welcome you to the premiere issue of the Southern Georgia Black Chambers Magazine, in partnership with AcknowledgeMINT.
This publication has been a long time coming. For too long, the stories of Black entrepreneurship, resilience, and excellence in South Georgia have been relegated to the margins-or worse, left untold. We have waited for others to recognize the value we bring to our communities. We have waited for mainstream platforms to highlight the innovation happening in our rural towns and city centers.
But as we often say as Black leaders: We must create our own table. The time for waiting is over.
This magazine is our answer. It is a declaration that we are here, we are thriving, and we are powerful.
When I first sat down with Adell Henderson, the visionary publisher of AcknowledgeMINT, we didn’t just talk about printing pages. We talked about building a bridge. We discussed creating a vehicle that would connect the vibrant, untapped potential of South Georgia with the economic powerhouse of Atlanta. We envisioned a tool that would not only showcase our businesses but also actively circulate the Black dollar within our own ecosystem.
In these pages, you will not just find advertisements; you will find the heartbeat of our community. You will meet the visionaries who are reshaping our skylines, the culinary artists who are defining our culture, and the service providers who are the backbone of our daily lives. You will see the “Black Wall Street” spirit alive and well across South Georgia.
This magazine is a testament to the philosophy that
“we are all we got.” It is a challenge to every reader to look within our own network first. Whether you need a contractor, a caterer, a lawyer, or a lender, the excellence you are looking for is right here.
To our members who stepped up to be part of this historic first issue: Thank you for trusting the vision. To our partners and supporters: Thank you for investing in our future.
And to you, the reader: Thank you for seeing us.
Welcome to the new narrative of Black business in South Georgia.
Sincerely,
President/CEO, Southern Georgia Black Chambers
