1. COMMITMENT
Understand what commitments have been made, and do not perform outside of the four corners of the contract.
“I stand here today $997k poorer because of the decision to help the person who was the sponsor of that contract for me have me operate out of contract so that they could address what they needed.”
2. COST
What it costs you not to deliver on the commitment is also about what you charge for the commitment.
“Stop buying the business. Stop buying clients. If you know you’re worth it, charge it, and collect on it.
3. CONTROL
Control is about who owes what, when.
“Clients very seldom understand what they need, they just know what they want. Understand that people are paying you because you’re a professional.”
4. COMMUNICATION
Understanding that everybody who needs to know, knows what they need to know.
“The last thing you want to do is end up in a conflict of contract. When you get out of contract, you get out of business.
