“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama

Season 2 – Episode 1, and we’re back with another issue of the Culture’s Premium Lifestyle Experience that we call AcknowledgeMINT. Happy 1st Anniversary! Thanks to everyone who contributed, supported, purchased ads, wrote, read, inspired, distributed, and believed in this publication. We are forever grateful.

Representation within the culture will always matter here. It’s challenging to Google greatness that looks like you when you don’t know they exist. You don’t know who you don’t know, so one page at a time, this platform was created to fill that void in the marketplace. Now, more than ever, we are committed to telling stories of the plain-sight superheroes who impact our lives in business and don’t get the type of recognition they deserve. At the same time, we’re committed to providing information and resources to put us in the best position to win.

As we plot, plan, strategize, organize, and mobilize our way through this current State of Emergency, we’ve intentionally enlisted a specific team of Super Friends to align with for this issue. Understanding that it will take a village, we were excited to connect with social entrepreneur and new author Dr. Lakeysha Hallmon. Her new book ”No One Is Self-Made” is a spiritual and emotional experience that will empower readers with practical tools to approach a successful work life while building your community. The work she has done with The Village Market will make you a believer. We are fortunate to have a return visit from Ryan Wilson, co-founder and CEO of The Gathering Spot. He explains how the private membership club has literally taken things to the next level by acquiring a sexy new rooftop property in Atlanta called RETREAT. Office space, outdoor pool, full restaurant, and skyline views will make this the hottest spot to gather this summer. We’re thankful that community activist/businesswoman Janis L. Ware allowed us to help her celebrate 60 years of The Atlanta Voice newspaper. Her dad started the publication as a movement, and as publisher, she continues the legacy of providing a voice to the voiceless. Coach Hue Jackson came through for a conversation at the midtown Atlanta location of Hammer & Nails, the ultimate stop for the total men’s grooming experience. As we raised a glass of his award-winning Grand Leyenda Tequila, Hue broke down how he learned about the benefits of self-care during his journey from growing up in South Central Los Angeles to coaching college and NFL football. Then what can be said that hasn’t already been said about the leadership, the commitment, the love, and the passion that Nancy Flake Johnson has for empowering people and communities. As President & CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, she and her team are making an impact in areas including workforce development, entrepreneurship, economic mobility in Black communities, housing, and wealth building.

Special thanks to contributing editor Marc Parham, Amber C. Saunders, Esq., Janice Bryant Howroyd, Bob Mackey, Charessa Sawyer, Richard Dunn, Rodney Allen, Dwayne Moore, Melvin Coleman, Courtney Johnson, Candace Ledbetter, Clorissa Wright, Johnny @ Goodfellas, Derrell Spann, Rich Jones, Greg Seals, and Jammond Hackley.

Issue Inspiration: My daughter Mia Henderson, my brother Datwon Thomas, and my brother Murdock Williams Jr.
