Nick Cannon Foundation Awards $10,000 to Save Us, a Nonprofit Addressing Mental Health in Marginalized Communities
The Nick Cannon Foundation, Inc., in collaboration with Wells Fargo and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in public schools nationwide, held its 8th Annual National America’s Teen Mogul (ATM) Competition on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Excelsior Preparatory High School Auditorium in Southeast Queens, NY.
The competition, which is open to high school students from across the country, challenges students to develop and pitch business ideas that address social and economic challenges in their communities. This year, the competition focused on the theme of mental health.
After a rigorous judging process, the first-place prize of $10,000 was awarded to team “Save Us” of South Atlanta High School in Atlanta, GA. Save Us is a nonprofit organization that provides mental health resources and support to underserved youth in marginalized communities. The team’s goal is to empower young people to advocate for their own mental health, build connections, and de-normalize things that should not be normalized.
“We are so proud of the Save Us team for their hard work and dedication,” said Nick Cannon, founder of the Nick Cannon Foundation. “Their innovative solution to the mental health crisis facing marginalized communities is truly inspiring. We are confident that they will make a real difference in the lives of young people across the country.”
In addition to the first-place prize, the ATM Competition also awarded $5,000 to the second-place team and $2,500 to the third-place team. All of the participating teams received mentorship and resources from Wells Fargo and the Nick Cannon Foundation.
The ATM Competition is part of the Nick Cannon Foundation’s mission to empower young people to become entrepreneurs and leaders in their communities. The foundation provides a variety of programs and resources to help young people develop their business skills, build their confidence, and make a positive impact in the world.
“We are committed to providing young people with the tools and resources they need to succeed,” said Cannon. “The ATM Competition is a great example of how we are working to create a brighter future for our youth.”
