When we launched the Southern Georgia Black Chambers, we didn’t just set out to create another business directory. We set out to build a lighthouse—a beacon of advocacy, resource-sharing, and economic power for the Black entrepreneur in the southern region of our state.
I am incredibly proud to present this second edition of our Chamber Magazine, produced in partnership with Adell Henderson and the visionary team at AcknowledgeMINT Magazine. This publication is more than just paper and ink; it is a living record of our excellence and a testament to the “Year of Execution.”
The Fortitude of the Founder
Entrepreneurship is often called the backbone of the American economy, but for the Black business owner, it is also a test of fortitude. We operate in a landscape where the conditions are not always favorable and the barriers to capital and contracts remain high. Yet, our history is defined by our ability to create something from nothing.
It is our collective responsibility not only to celebrate our culture but to maintain and grow our history. We aren’t just running businesses; we are building the institutions that will sustain our grandchildren. This requires a level of discipline and resilience that the average person never has to tap into.
The Chamber: Your Necessary Ally
While small businesses are the backbone, the Southern Georgia Black Chambers is the support system that keeps that backbone strong. In these times, a relationship with the Chamber is no longer a luxury—it is a necessity. We provide the protective covering and the high-level advocacy that ensures our members aren’t just surviving, but scaling.
Our recent successes, from representing our mission at the State Capitol to our high-level leadership roundtables, prove that our voice is being heard in the rooms where decisions are made. But advocacy without education is incomplete. That is why we are breaking ground with the Small Business Academy. This Academy is designed to keep our businesses armed with information that is not just theoretical, but executable. Whether it’s navigating procurement or mastering digital infrastructure, we are ensuring that our members are “fingertips-to-keyboard” ready for the contracts of tomorrow.
A Call to Action
To our current members: You are the heart of this movement. Let’s make 2026 the year we move from participation to true partnership. Let’s make this Chamber even better by demanding more of ourselves and each other.
To the business owner who is still on the sidelines: Let me be the first—and if necessary, the only—to personally invite you to join us. Be a part of an organization that truly has your best interests at heart. We have built the bridge; you just have to walk across it.
The “Year of Execution” is in full swing. The roadmap is clear, the tools are ready, and the mission is urgent.
Let’s get to work.
