In honor of Black History Month, the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) has taken to the skies in a unique partnership with Delta Air Lines. This collaboration curates a curated collection of in-flight movies showcasing diverse and impactful stories representing the Black experience in cinema.
This first-of-its-kind partnership offers Delta passengers a glimpse into the richness and depth of Black-themed films. AAFCA members, working alongside Delta’s In-flight Entertainment team and BOLD, their Black Community Business Resource Group, carefully selected these films. The collection encompasses various genres and narratives, highlighting historical dramas, comedies, romances, and more.
This collaboration goes beyond entertainment. It serves as an educational tool, offering passengers the opportunity to engage with stories that reflect the Black experience and spark meaningful conversations. By showcasing these films on a global platform like Delta, AAFCA and Delta are amplifying diverse voices and fostering cultural understanding.
The list of featured films remains under wraps until the official debut in early February. However, one can expect a selection that captures the essence of Black history and entertainment, featuring classics like “The Five Heartbeats” and “Dreamgirls” alongside contemporary favorites like “Black Panther” and “Shaft.”
This partnership between AAFCA and Delta signifies a groundbreaking initiative. It paves the way for future collaborations and demonstrates the power of shared values and commitment to diversity and inclusion. So, if you’re flying Delta this Black History Month, be sure to check out the AAFCA-curated film collection and embark on a journey through impactful stories that celebrate the Black experience.
